Direct Objects

The subject of a sentence "does" the action of the sentence

The verb is the action or state of being in the sentence

The direct object receives the action of the sentence

Only action verbs have direct objects

For example, in the sentence "The boy kicked the ball."

boy=subject
kicked=verb
ball=direct object

To find the direct object, find the verb and ask "what" or "whom" after the verb
