FACTS ABOUT THE FOOD

  • An :"Keep breakfast for yourself, share lunch with your friend and give dinner to your enemyโ€.
  • The biggest and most important meals for Mongolians are breakfast and lunch
  • Consist of boiled mutton with lots of fat and flour and maybe some dairy products or rice
  • Kazakhs in western Mongolia add variety to their diets with horsemeat.

BOODOG: MARMOT BARBECUE

  • A young goat or more often a marmot.
  • Which is stuffed with heated rocks and a variety of vegetables and spices.
  • The dish is another example of a more utilitarian nomadic lifestyle

MUTTON

  • The most common rural dish is cooked mutton
  • Those are dumplings filled with meat
  • Other types of dumplings are boiled in water or deep fried in mutton fat
