  • the highest free-standing mountain in the world.
  • Almost every kind of ecological system is found on the mountain
  • The mountain’s snow caps are diminishing, having lost more than 80 percent of their mass since 1912.

  • The mountain range stretches approximately 1,600 miles
  • The Atlas Mountains containing many trees including pine, oak, and cedar trees.

KALAHARI DESERT

  • The desert covers approximately 350,000 square miles
  • The Kalahari Desert actually has huge areas that are good for grazing
  • The Kalahari gets very hot; it can reach temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) in the summer.
