  • Home Button
  • Power
  • Volume
  • Camera
  • Apps/Dock
Explain each part.

iPad Rules

  • Use 2 hands
  • Turn screen off when teacher is talking
  • Tap gently
  • Use only the app you were told to use
  • No food or drink near iPads
Think Pair Share iPad Rules.
Discuss why rules are important.

Ways to Use iPads at School

  • Whiteboard to write answers
  • Math practice
  • Video/pictures 
  • Create plays, projects, presentations
  • Tape yourself reading
Get suggestions from class. Share ideas.

We have a variety of apps...

Explain a few of the apps.

Activity #1

  • Find Doodlebuddy
  • Practice printing your name while we wait for everyone
  • Erase the screen
  • Write an equation 
  • Solve the word problems using pictures and equations.
Explain ways DoodleBuddy can be used in class. Let students play with for a few minutes. Explain features. Complete some Math Problems.

Math Problem Solving

  • I read 21 pages of my English book yesterday. Today, I read 17 pages. What is the total number of pages did I read?
  • Ruby has 63 apples. Emily takes 55 away. How many apples will Ruby have?
  • Thirteen (13) ducks are swimming in a lake. Twenty (20) more ducks come to join them. How many ducks are swimming in the lake?
  • Craig starts with 5 Skittles. 2 are eaten by a hippopotamus. How many Skittles does Craig end with?
Discuss how we show work in Math and then complete example problems.

Activity #2

  • Find the Camera App
  • Take a picture of something in your desk
  • Take a picture of yourself
  • Find the Camera Roll and view your pictures
  • Delete both pictures
Explain how camera can be used for learning. Explain using camera.

Camera Word Search

  • Write your name on your paper
  • Choose a letter of the alphabet
  • Find a picture or word beginning with that letter
  • Take a picture of the word or picture
  • Write the letter you chose and the word on your paper
Explain rules and allow students to do word search.
