Big thicket, national preserve, Beaumont, Texas.

Located at 6102 FM 420, Kountze, Texas. It is 8 miles north of Kountze and approximately 30 miles north of Beaumont via US 69/287

The preserve visitor center is open from 9-5 daily. Close on jan , thanksgiving day, Christmas Day.

There are no entrance fees or user fees in Big Thicket

Hiking trails are open from dawn to dusk.

DIRECTIONS TO BIG THICKET

  • Turn right at the 1st cross street onto Swisher Rd (0.5 mi)
  • Turn right onto Pockrus Page Rd (0.2 mi)
  • Turn left onto Post Oak Blvd (0.3 mi)
  • Turn right onto Lakeview Blvd (0.4 mi)
  • Continue onto Post Oak Rd (302 ft)
  • Turn left onto I-35E Frontage Rd (0.2 mi)
  • Take the Interstate 35E S ramp on the left (423 ft)

  • Merge onto I-35E S (23.4 mi)

OUR SCHEDULE

  • Arrive at 10 am and eat breakfast of eggs, toast, and biscuits.
  • Set up equipment until 12pm.
  • Eat lunch of sandwiches and chips until 1pm.
  • Go swimming until 5pm.
  • Eat dinner of burgers, hot dogs, and salads until 6pm.
  • Stay up around campfire until 8pm.
  • Go to sleep at 8:10 pm.

  • Wake up at 11am.
  • Eat breakfast of eggs, toast, and biscuits until 12am.
  • Go fishing until 2pm.
  • Miscellaneous free time (including lunch of sand which and chips) until 5pm.
  • Hunting until 7:30 pm.
  • Hiking until 8pm.
  • Eat dinner of steak and baked potatoes until 9pm.
  • Go to sleep by 9:10pm.
