BACKGROUND
Jeannine was born in 1939, the year Germany invaded Poland.
She lived in Belgium with her family.
Belgium was supposed to be neutral during the war.
Jeannine and her family needed somewhere to go.
3.
JEANNINES FAMILY
Jeannine and her family needed to find somehwere to go.
Her father found a place for Jeannine, and her two siblings to go.
Her brother was sent to a Christian home for boys.
Her sister had a disease (osteomyelitis) so she had to stay in a isolation ward.
Jeannines mother hid in a nursing home and worked as a nurses assistant.

JEANNINE
Jeannines father found a womans home for Jeannine to stay at.
Her father dropped her off and that was the last time she saw him.
Jeannine stayed in the womans home from age 3 to 5.
Jeannine had no friends while she lived there, all she did was played.

WOMANS HOUSE
Throughout the time she stayed there, she never knew the womans name.
She doesnt remember what she called her.
Jeannine also had no information about her, only her father did.
After the war was over, Jeannine had no way of thanking the lady.

AFTER THE WAR
In the fall of 1944, Jeannines mother came and found her.
Then both of them went to get her sister.
Jeannines brother found his back on his own.
However, Jeannines father never came home.

JEANNINES MOTHER
Jeannines mother had a hard time taking care of them.
She later got breast cancer.
By the time they got to the doctor it was to late.
Jeannine and her two siblings were left alone.

A NEW OPPORTUNITY
A month after her mothers death, Jeannine got a letter from the Savage Family.
Her siblings thought it was a great opportunity for Jeannine.
She flew over to America to stay with them
The Savages were mortified when they first saw her.
Jeannine was only 12, she weighed 62 pounds, and her skin was grey.

JEANNINE AS AN ADULT
Jeannine got married when she was young.
She had two boys, and soon after got divorced.
Then in 1970, Jeannine met Maurice.
They got married and have 6 children and 9 grandchildren.
Jeannine believes that God finally gave her something that she deserved.
10.
IMPACT ON PEOPLE
Jeannine made a huge impact on many people.
People now have a better understanding of what the Holocaust is about.
Now understand the challenges that had to take on.
Jeannine also let survivors know that they are not alone.
It is important that Jeannine shared her story.
