Subjects and Predicates

The subject of a sentence is always a noun

The subject tells whom or what the sentence is about

The subject of the sentence "does" the action of the verb

To find the subject of a sentence find the verb and then ask yourself "who?" or "what?"

For example, in the sentence:
The cat ran away from the dog.

The verb is RAN

So, you ask yourself "who ran?"

And the answer is "the cat."
