LATIN GRACES

  • A Latin grace is a short prayer, delivered with a solemn, measured tone.
  • Usually reserved for large feast like dinner parties
  • Originally quite long, but shortened versions are most commonly used
  • Benedic, Domine, nos et dona tua, (Bless, O Lord, us and your gifts,)
  • quae de largitate tua sumus sumpturi, (which from your bounty we are about to receive,)

PER CAPITA

  • Per capita income is often used as average income
  • A measure of the wealth of the population of a nation
  • Most commonly used to compare two or more nations
  • Literal translation: Per head

ZEPHYR

  • A Light wind or west wind
  • Named after Zephyrus one of the Anemoi
  • Greek god of the West wind
  • The most favorable of the winds
