HOW IT WORKS
The dermis is filled with tiny nerve endings
Nerve endings tell you what you come in contact with
They do this by carrying information to the spinal cord
The spinal cord sends it to the brain and the brains decides how to react
It senses hot or cold, pain, pressure etc
3.
TOUCH
Called Somatosensory system
Sensory receptors cover skin, muscles, bones, joints ,and organs
Uses the central nervous system, peripheral system, and sensory system
Neurons are sent from the receptors to brain
Uses hair follicles as well to feel touch
4.
FACTS
The most sensitive areas are the hands, face, neck, tongue, and fingertips
There are more then 100 touch receptors in each fingertip
You have more pain nerve endings than anything else
First sense to develop in humans
