  • Texans elected him to lead military.

THE ALAMO

  • 12 day long military defeat for Texas independance
  • Mexican causalities were 8 times greater
  • Psychological victory
  • "Remember the Alamo"

  • Expecting to be treated as a prisoners of war, Texans surrendered
  • Santa anna ordered those Texans to be shot.

  • They forced Santa Anna to sigh a treaty giving Texas its independence
