PRESENTATION OUTLINE

THE TWO CREATION STORIES

BY: DIEGO GRAGEDA

GENESIS1:1-2:3

  • This creation story is the most common one taught.
  • This is the one where God creates the world in six days
  • and rests on the seventh day. He created all things in the world
  • on a specific day. He created light, day, night, earth, and the heavens
  • on the first day. He creates the sky on the second day. He makes land,

GENESIS 1:1-2:3

  • and plants on the third day. He then made the stars, moon, and the sun
  • on the fourth day. On the fifth day he made birds and the sea creatures.
  • The sixth day was used to create the land animals and man, both female and male.
  • And on the seventh day, God rested and blessed that day.

GENESIS 2:4-25

  • This is the second creation story. This is the one
  • where Adam and Eve, the first humans, eat the fruit
  • of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, which made the original
  • sin. The days when God created the world are not specified.
  • It also follows a sequence, but it is different. In this one, God

GENESIS 2:4-25

  • created the earth, the heavens, and plants but no rain yet, but
  • there is a spring that waters the earth. Then, He made the first human male
  • out of dust and breathed life into his nostrils and named him Adam.
  • He then made the garden of Eden and it has every beautiful plant and good
  • to eat. It also had the tree of life and tree of knowledge of good and evil.

  • He then put Adam in the Garden of Eden.
  • Next, He told Adam to till the garden and keep it nice.
  • He also said not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good
  • and evil cause he said you will die. Then, God made every animal
  • to keep Adam company and to name them. After that, God took one

  • of Adam's ribs and made a woman whom He named Eve.
  • Then, the story of original sin begins.

SIMILARITIES

  • In the two stories, the worlds both get made in sequences.
  • The earth and the heavens get made in the first day/sequence.
  • They are both creation stories.

DIFFERENCES

  • God makes the animals for different reasons.
  • The sequence of making the world is different.
  • Some things are skipped over in the second creation story.
  • God does not name humans in the first creation story.
  • God does not rest when he finishes creating the world.
