  • Magalang is one of the most ancient towns of Pampanga
  • established by the Augustinians in 1605
  • Its original site was a place called Macapsa
  • was later transferred to San Bartolome
  • only one of 15 towns in the province to have an Augustinian church

  • The armed rebellions of Francisco Maniago
  • There was also the great flood caused by the Parua River
  • First to move was the gobernadorcillo Pablo Luciano
  • The group brought with them the image of their patron, San Bartolome
  • Fr. Ramon Sarrionandia, gave the name Pedro de Magalang

  • The town fiesta, observed on August 24, is the feast day of San Bartolome
  • Several months before the fiesta, people would raise pigs
  • Days before the fiesta, the houses are being cleaned with “pakiling” leaves

San agustin church

  • The barangay is popularly known as Dapa
  • One of the men of Antero Dizon
  • carved an image of San Agustin in the trunk of a tree
  • The Negritoes found it and brought it to the barrio
  • A devoted Catholic donated a piece of land, had a chapel built

Pampanga agricultural college

  • Started as "Granja Modelo" in 1885 by the Spaniards
  • PAC continuously undertakes agricultural research, production and extension

Rivera house

  • The house was used as quarters of the Japanese soldiers

  • a writer became also a Chief of Police and two term mayor of the town.
  • Coming from a rice-producing town, Magalang
  • Navarro’s setting for his novels is often the rural areas.

  • one of the best poets in Magalang, Pampanga.
  • He has written many lyric poems and several verse narratives.
