Owls are nocturnal which means they are active at night.

Owls have four talons on each foot which help grab there prey and they have feathers all down their legs for protection.

Owls have big eyes to let in as much light as possible so they can see at night.

Owls eyes have so many rods in there eyes there isn't enough space for muscles to let them move so they can turn there head almost completely around.

Owls don't have cones in their eyes which means they're color blind.

An owl hears in three-D which means they can tell which side the noise came from and if it is above or below them because their ears are offset so the noise would hit one before the other.

The owls claws are called talons.

Owls have feathers down their legs so their prey doesn't injure them by biting their leg.

Owls feathers have a soft texture and are fluffy which make them almost silent when they fly.

Owls are four weeks old when they swallow their first prey.

An owl pellet is bone and fur that the owls stomach couldn't digest.

Barn owls primarily feed on small rodents.

Owls don't lay their eggs at once so they aren't bombarded with having to get a lot of food at once.

It is important for the baby owls to leave as soon as possible so the food source in their parents territory isn't destroyed.

In the wild barn owls can live up to 5 years but in more protected areas anywhere from 20-25 years.
