• Leif is son of Erik the Red
• He settled in a coastal area and named it Vinland
• Leif and his men were attacked by Native Americans
• They all a banded Vinland because of the threat they posed

CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS

• Sailed with the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria
• Columbus technically found America
• Columbus wanted to find a sea route to Asia

FERDINAND MAGELLAN

• Was credited the first man to sail around the world
• Was a Portuguese navigator
• Died in a battle against the natives of the Philippines

COLOMBIAN EXCHANGE

• Traded many vegetables and fruits
• Was a very big trade route
• Europeans and Americans used the route to their advantage

CONQUISTADORS

• They are soldiers who led expeditions
• Conquered lots of other tribes and civilizations
• Were very powerful and had strong weapons

NORTHWEST PASSAGE

• It aloud ships to sail from the Atlantic to Pacific Ocean
• Helped lead to more interest in North America
• John Cabot tried to find a Northwest Passage but never did

MIDDLE PASSAGE

• Many enslaved Africans were sent as transport on this route
• Lots of slaves were killed by diseases during the journey
• The slave trade led to African Diaspora which gave slaves some rights
