BRIDE AND GROOM

• Christ is the bridegroom who loves the Church, his bride.
• Christ gave himself up for the Church to make her holy.
• Also, to join her to Himself in an everlasting covenant.
• This relationship can be described as two becoming one flesh

Their unity reveals something about the relationship meant for husband and wife.

HUSBAND AND WIFE

• This can also be described as two becoming one flesh.
• For a married couple, sexual intercourse is a sign of undying love.
• It is a sign of total self-giving to each spouse.
• Christian marriage is a sign of the covenant of Christ and the Church
• The faithfulness of the spouses to one another gives witness to God's faithful love.
