GERARDUS MERCATOR
Born march 5,1512
His family moved from Germany to Flanders shortly before her was born.
Educated in hertogenbosch(Netherlands) recieving training in Christian do train, dialect, and Latin.
In 1530 he entered the catholic university of leaven to study humanities and philosophy
Died December 2, 1594

ACOMPLISHMENTS
Gerardus was a Flemish cartographer whose important innovation was a map, known as the Mercator projection
Gave an accurate ratio of longitude and latitude
Also introduced the term atlas

Wrote the codes for maps we use today
His map converts the spherical world into a 2 demential map
