CAUSES OF POVERTY

  • Lack of education, high divorce rate which causes feminization of poverty, having a culture of poverty, overpopulation, epidemic diseases such as AIDS and malaria,Natural disasters, health, handicap, age, discrimination and corruption.

CONSECUENSES OF POVERTY

  • High death rate, high infant mortality, a lot of illnesses, increase in crime rate, increase of homeless people, emigration, hunger, increase risk of war, terrorism, increase in drug addicts, insecurity, prostitution, family disintegration and bad education.

TYPES OF POVERTY

  • Absolute poverty: People that lack of the basic needs and struggle to survive. E.g. Indigenous people that live in rural zones.
  • Relative poverty: Families that in comparison to other families can't get the same goods and services but don't lack of the basic needs. The people that live in a small village close to a big city.

WORLD BANK

  • When people can't get enough money to get the basic needs.
  • Extreme poverty is when people lack of 3 or more basic needs

CONEVAL

  • Consejo Nacional de Evaluación de la Política de Desarrollo Social
  • According to the CONEVAL the quantity of people in poverty situation is 45% of the total inhabitants.
  • They measure it by counting the people that lack a social need like education, basic services in the household, nutrition and low wages.

UNEMPLOYMENT

  • Unemployment is when a person is with no job and he or she is unable to find one in a certain period of time, also unemployment is a regulator of economy, this way economy keeps healthy. It is also an estimate of economic development in the countries, this is calculated by seeing the measure of unemployment, made by dividing the unemployment persons and the number of people in the labor force.
  • In April of this year the unemployment rate in Mexico was of 5%, so Mexico is the forth lower rate in the countries of the OCDE. The government calculate this rate by dividing the unemployment people and the active works, expressed as a percentage.
