What is a colonoscopy
It is a test that oallows your Dr to look in the inner linning of you large intestine.
Hepls find ulcers,colon polps, tumors and areeas of inflammation.
At age 50 is when you start screening for both men and women.
Then every 5 to 10 years after.

Colonoscopy should take 30 Min 12 to get the scope in 5 0r 6 ft
And 12 minutes to take it out
If poplps need to be removed it will take longer depending on the
Number and size.
You are sedated during the procedure.

Prep before your colonoscopy consist of.
The day beforeyou should have clear liquids
Drink your drink that the Dr has instructed you to drink as
Directed. To clean out your colon.
You may receive an enema so that the intestine walls can be seen.

HOW IS A COLONOSCOPY PERFORMED.
Meds with be put in your veins to make you feel felaxes
or drowsy you will lie on your left side. During the procedure
the Dr colonoscope that is long and flexible and is 1/2 inc to
look at the inner linning of your intestine.the scope blows air to expand
the colon to help the Dr see better.

You may feel some mild cramping during the procedure.
If the Dr sees anything abnormal he will remove it then.
After your procedure you will stsy in recovery for 30 min.
You may feel some cramping or gas this is normal.
You will be dicharged and may go home. You must have some drive you.

WHAT ARE POLYPS
Polyps are small clumps of cells that forms on the
linning of the colon. Most are harmless sime become cancerous
over time. Anyone can deveolpe these.
You are at higher risk if you are 50 or older, a smoker, eat high fat
low fiber diets, and have a history of colon cancer in the family.
