JAM KOLACHES

What are they?
-A pastry that holds a small portion of fruit rimmed by a puffy outline of dough.

History:
-Originated in Central and Eastern Europe in countries such as Poland and Czechoslovakia.

-They are popular all year round, but are especially popular during Christmas.

INGREDIENTS

• 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
• 3 ounces cream cheese, softened
• 1/2 cup butter, softened
• 1/4 cup sifted confectioners' sugar
• 1/4 cup strawberry jam
