POPULATION

  • ALL MEMBERS OF THE SAME SPECIES THAT INHIBIT A PARTICULAR AREA
  • Example: Lions in Africa
  • Fact: The populations on which predators feed are called prey.
  • Fact: Populations that feed on other organisms are called predators.

HABITAT

  • Definition: Where organism lives
  • Example: grassland
  • Fact: Habitats can be big like a forest or they can be much smaller like a burrow.
  • Fact: Some animals defend a huge habitat or roam over a large habitat.

MUTUALISM

  • Definition: Relationship where both organisms benefit from eacchother
  • Example: Clownfish and a sea anemone
  • Fact: Both species receive an advantage by working with the other.
  • Fact: it helps them both survive.

PARASITISM

  • Definition: one organism benefits, the other usually grts injured
  • Example: fleas and dogs
  • Fact: feed off a host, not killing it right away, slowly sucking the life out of it
  • Fact: Parasites help no one but themselves.

  • Definition: role an organism plays in an ecosystem
  • Example: oney bee: Pollinate flowering plants
  • Fact: No two species can occupy exactly the same niche.
  • Fact:organisms can all live together is if they occupy slightly different niches

  • Example: chicken

  • Fact: Some can only eat part of a plant

  • Definition: organism that makes its own food
  • Example: oak tree
  • Fact: They support the whole earth's ecological system
  • Fact: theyre at the bottom of the food chain

CARNIVORE

  • Definition: organism that only eats meat
  • Example: lion
  • Fact: Carnivores are divided into 7 basic groups.
  • Fact: There are about 250 species of carnivores

  • Definition: eats both plants and animals
  • Example: humans
  • Facts: theyre teeth are made for eats plants and animals
  • Fact: The diet depends on the specific omnivore and its environment

PRODUCER

  • Definition: organisms that can make their own energy through biochemical process
  • Example: plants
  • Fact: All life on earth is directly or indirectly reliant on producer
  • Fact: The first trophic level in a food chain
