GOBI

  • The Gobi from Mongolian gobi, meaning “waterless place”
  • It stretches across huge portions of both Mongolia and China
  • much of the Gobi is not sandy desert but bare rock.
  • The Gobi occupies a vast arc of land an estimated area of 500,000 square miles

  • Part of the Pacific Ocean that borders Asia
  • With the East China Sea form the China Sea
  • area of about 1,423,000 square miles
  • mean depth of 3,976 feet

  • Its name is Chinese for “Celestial Mountains.”
  • 1,500 miles from west-southwest to east-northeast
  • border between China and Kyrgyzstan

  • it is the world’s longest man-made waterway
  • It was built to transport grain from Yangtze to Huai river valleys

MEKONG RIVER

  • longest river in Southeast Asia
  • the 12th longest river in the world
  • length of about 2,700 miles
  • the 7th longest river in Asia
