18TH AMENDMENT

  • In the 1920’s, the amendment went into affect and prohibited the invent and sale of alcohol in America.
  • Many Americans supported the law in the beginning.
  • But there weren't enough police to stop the drinking habits of so many Americans.
  • Its ratification was certified on January 16, 1919, .
  • The amendment taking effect on January 17, 1920

19TH AMENDMENT

  • Prohibits any US citizen from being denied the right to vote because of sex
  • It was ratified on August 18, 1920.
  • The Constitution allows the states to determine the qualifications for voting
  • The 1910s most states disenfranchised women.

21ST AMENDMENT

  • Disillusionment led Congress to ratify the 21st Amendment, which repealed Prohibition.
  • Rise in organized crime, as the bootlegging of alcohol became an lucrative operation.
