  • It started with Siddhartha Gautama.
  • Also, it originated it India.

AMOUNT OF FOLLOWERS

  • Buddhism currently has 400 million adherents

DISTRIBUTION

  • Buddhism is fairly widespread across Asia.
  • Ranged from the western outposts of Pakistan east to the
  • islands of Japan

END GOAL

  • The end goal is Enlightenment or Buddahood
  • This is the state of being a Buddha

IMPORTANT BELIEFS

  • 4 Noble Truths
  • Eight Fold Path

PRACTICES

  • Intended to aid in the journey to enlightenment
  • and bring blessings on oneself or others
  • Practice of meditation
  • Meditation is the central focus of Zen Buddhism
  • and the only way to liberation in Theravada Buddhism
