About 80% of Greece is made up of mountains, the Pindus mountains contain the highest peak in Greece, the Olympus. The Pindus mountains divide Greece. The mountain ranges vary between 8,00 to 10,000 feel high. These mountains are the reason the Greeks are solvated from one another, that causes the Greeks to develop their own ways of life.

The Mediterranean, Aegean and Ionian Seas make up the western, southern, and eastern borders of Greece. The Greeks became seafarers, considering that they were completely surrounded by water. Using the water, the Greeks made contact with the outside world by sailing out to the Mediterranean Sea and the Black Sea.

The people in the Minoan civilizations they traded finely crafted otters and gold and silver jewelry from Crete. All of their rooms were elaborately decorated, including the bathrooms. Rooms had brightly colored paintings, and storerooms. Some historians believe that a tidal wave triggered by a powerful volcanic eruption was responsible for the collapse around 1450 B.C.

Myceanaen Greeks were part of the Indo-European family of people who spread in Europe and Asia. In 1900 B.C Mycenae civilization gained control of the Greek mainland. The royal families lived in a fortified palace center that was surrounded by gigantic stone walls.

The most famous of all their supposed military adventures, is recounted in the poetry of Homer. According to Homer the Mycenaen Greeks plundered the city of Troy around 1250 B.C. During the dark age many Greeks sailed across the Aegean Sea to various islands, like the Asia Minor, and in modern day Turkey.
