PRESENTATION OUTLINE

STELLER'S SEA COW

AN EXTINCT SEA MAMMAL

CHARACTERISTICS

  • Grew up to 8 or 9 metres
  • Weighed 8000 kg (8.8 tons)
  • A lifespan of 50-80 years
  • Smooth brown, black or grey skin.
  • Extinct in 1758 AD, thousands of years ago.

Habitat
Th Steller's sea cow lived in the Arctic Tundra and throughout the Northern Pacific. They would go near the seabed to look for food, but mostly spent their time swimming near the surface.

DIET

  • Sea grasses
  • Seaweed
  • Algae
  • Flowers

WHY IS IT EXTINCT?

  • Wiped out by sailors, seal hunters, etc.
  • Hunted for food, its fat and skin.

Could this animal survive in present time?
I don't think so, because people will just keep hunting them for money, and the environment is not as good as it was before.

THINGS TO DO TO PREVENT EXTINCTION

  • Do not destroy their habitat!
  • Do not buy animal products, such as tiger claws, elephant tusk, etc.
  • Do not kill animals!
  • share to others about animal extinction!

HELP SAVE THE ANIMALS!
