ARISTOTLE

• Born-384 B.C Died-322 B.C age of 62
• He proved the earth was spherical
• He believed the earth was at the center of the universe because of the stars shifting position throughout the year.

ARISTARCHUS

• Born-310 B.C Died-230 B.C
• Was the first to propose the sun was at the sun of the universe but many forget he proposed this first after Copernicus did even though he proposed this 1750 years earlier
• He also attempted to measure the distance between the earth and sun and the earth and moon. His results were very off but that is because he didn't have the technology needed to find the distance

PTOLEMY

• Born 85 A.D Died 165 A.D
• He invented the Ptolemaic system which predicted the movement of the stars,sun, moon, and planets
• His model was biased off of a universe that was centered around the earth and the Ptolemaic model is one of the longest upheld scientific theories in history: it was the cornerstone of astronomy for 1,500 years.

COPERNICUS

• Born 1473 Died 1543
• He was the first to suggest the sun at the center on the universe

KEPLER

• Born 1571 Died 1630
• He developed the three planetary motion
• He was the first to used the elliptical orbiting method

GALILEO GALILEI

• Born 1564 Died 1642
• He made one of the first telescopes, although it wasn't very powerful, he found many different discovery's that changed astronomy
• He was the first to see the mountains, craters, and valleys on the moon

NEWTON

• Born 1623 Died 1727
• Newton showed that the laws governing astronomical bodies were the same laws governing motion on the surface of the Earth

GEOCENTRIC MODEL

• Geocentric is the belief that the earth is at the center of the universe. This use to be the theory of our universe but has been proven wrong.

HELIOCENTRIC MODEL

• Heliocentric is the belief that the sun is at the center of the universe. It is the modern belief as of this moment and has proven to be true
