TO FIND A DIRECT OBJECT:

  • Find the action verb..
  • Ask whom? Or what?
  • The answer is the direct object.

THE DOG CHEWED HIS BONE.

CHEWED WHAT? BONE IS THE DIRECT OBJECT.
