BUDDHISM

  • Spread quickly through western regions
  • Started in china, spread by monks
  • On their travels to study sutras in India they spread Buddhism along the silk road

ZOROASTRIANISM

  • Spread in western regions of china
  • Moved eastward after the spread of the Arab empire
  • Travelled to southern and northern dynasties
  • Once the official religion of persia

MANICHEISM

  • Mixture of zoroastrianism, judaism, christianity qnd ancient greek ideas
  • Very common among common chinese people.

NESTORIANISM

  • School of Syrian christianity
  • Introduced to china by way of the silk roads
  • Some emperors built temples to practice the religion
  • Declined in the Tang dynsaty

ISLAM

  • Came from the Arabs on the silk road and sea routes
  • Guangdong province and quanzhou were the holders of most islam
  • Big effect on chinese religous beliefs
