PRESENTATION OUTLINE

THE TOP THREE REASONS ROME FELL

SYDNEY BLAAS - 4TH PERIOD

3. INVASIONS AND MILITARY PROBLEMS

  • Tribes from Germany invaded the west parts of Rome, Sassanid invaded the west
  • eventually both sided were in faded by the Hans
  • the wars cost a lot of money, and the economy was tanking
  • the loyalty of the troops went to the highest bidder, and paying these soldiers became difficult with
  • The decrease in economy

This reason is ranked third of the top three reasons because this started to lead to distrust with in the empire. It was the beginning point to Rome's fall. They empire was getting invaded by surrounding cities and causing they economy to decline. Rome was no longer the strongest empire everyone thought they were.

2. OVER EXPANSION

  • the cities had become very over populated
  • the cities were so large that they had to split Rome into east and west
  • they were then being invaded more often
  • the empire had less funds for manufacturing infrastructure
  • not enough food was being produced cause of the lack of money

The cities were becoming over populated because people from all over would come to live in Rome, or parents thought Rome was so stable that they would mind having more children, thus increasing the Romans population. Rome was still at war and having to spend money focusing on that, so they weren't able to manufacture infrastructure, and food began to lack. The over expansion of Rome played a big part in their economic problems with caused a lack of trust in Rome, thus making it number two in my top three.

1. CHRISTIANITY

  • the loyalty of rimes people had already started to corrupt it worsened when Christians came along
  • Christianity was different from traditional roman values
  • Christianity spoke to everyone not just a certain group of people
  • the people lost trust in Rome
  • therefore the roman religion wasn't worth following

Christianity is my number one as to reasons Rome fell. Before Christianity Romans had to follow the emperor who was also considered a god. But Christianity opened a new mind set that all who believe in this one god are welcome, and are allowed life after death. Where as before only the Jews followed that, and you could only have life after death if you were a Jew. Christianity was opened to all people, when they Romans started to follow that, Rome was threatened. This caused a huge decline in the Roman Empire.
