  • D.o.B -November 23, 1961
  • graduated - Jeffersonville High school-1979
  • business degree - Ball State University-1983
  • moved back home to help his struggling father
  • soon opening his first little pizzeria in a closet 

reasoning for opening Papa Johns

  • started working at Rocky's Pizzeria in high school 
  • started cleaning dishes -moved up to making pizza
  • desire-open friendly pizza franchise
  • used his fathers broom closet to start Papa Johns
  • used the perseverance that he was taught at a young age to start   

accomplishments

  • Inducted -Junior Achievement U.S. Business Hall of Fame - 2007.
  • One out of Ten Outstanding Men-2000-National Jaycees Organization
  • 1998 National Ernst & Young Retail/Consumer Entrepreneur of The Year
  •  The Kentucky Entrepreneur Hall of Fame in 2010

John Schnatter sold his 1972 Chevrolet Camaro to help his dad with his struggling business and he used the rest to buy $1,600 of equipment to start up his business. He later than wanted to see if he could find it again and offered a $250,00 reward to anyone who found it. On August 6, 2009, John bought back his Camaro and offered anyone with a Camaro a free pizza in celebration.
