Ancient Roman armour back then was really different
Ancient Roman armour back then was really different from what people wear to war now. Men were only allowed to join the army when they were twenty and over. They had to wear a thick layer of metal armour that was extremely heavy.

Armour now is much more different to what the Romans wore back then. People today don't wear heavy metal armour. In fact they wear a camouflage uniform where the material is very thin. Sometimes they don't even use a bullet proof vest.

• Women were not allowed to join the army.
• You had to be twenty and over to join one of the legions
• Roman armour was made out of iron and leather strips
• Roman legionaries were not allowed to get married
• Legionaries had to serve their country for twenty five years

Did you know Roman soldiers were very disciplined,well-trained and they were people that worked hard every single day? The Roman army was incredible; they were performing drills every day. They were the most trained soldiers in the whole army force, which was made up of Roman soldiers and foreign soldiers.
