COSTAL STATES INTRODUCTION

  • The coastal states include Idaho,Oregon, and California.
  • Each of the states have a large Asian poulation that is how they get cuisine.
  • The emphasis on the delicious seafood provided is on the Pacific bounty.

HAWAII INTRODUCTION

  • Hawaii is a region of 132 islands located in the middle of Pacific Ocean.
  • The vanic and soil climate provide good growing seasons.
  • Hawaii was the 50th state in 1959.

WAGON TRAINS

  • Set out for Oregon in the 1840's.
  • There people that wanted to abandon there homes and seek adventure.
  • The journey took about 6 months in harsh condition.

  • Brought chinese to the U.S. To work.

FRUITS&NUTS

  • The area of Washington and Oregon are very poulated for these items.
  • Almost half of the pears and apples are grown in these states.
  • Apples were frist planted and grown in Vancouver,Washington in 1827.

  • It is a recreation of Turkish delight.
  • First successful from apples and walnuts.
  • Thats how cotlets where made they took out apples and put apricots.
  • With there great success they are being marketed all over the U.S.

POTATOES

  • Idaho grows more potatoes then any other state.
  • The volcanic soil is what makes the thing big and fluffy.
  • Potatoes are indigenous from Peru.
  • They are the main starchy food in Germany.

  • The legumes are very popular in the Middle East.
  • The soft wheat is grown in wahington and Oregon.
  • Saefood is also very popular in these states.

  • It is manufactured in Austin,Minnesota.
  • It is very popular in Hawaii because of the pork.
  • Hawaii purchased almost 4 cans per citizen most in the Union.

COFFEE&MACADAMIA NUTS

  • Hawiiis only state in union that grows coffee.
  • Grown on the big island.
  • Macadamia nuts and coffee is a big thing in Hawii.

PINEAPPLE

  • Not as much pineapple grows in hawii but people think of the pineapple state is hawii.
  • The dole plantation is a popular tourist location.

  • Made by pounding the stem of taro plant until it is a paste.
  • It is eaten by scooping your hand with one finger.

  • It is mainly festival and gathering of family.
  • The main dish is the young rosted pig in the pit.
