SERIES OF EVENTS

  • Trayvon visiting dad in the Retreat of Twin Lakes
  • Zimmerman was on patrol (neighborhood watch.)
  • Zimmerman and Trayvon got into an altercation.
  • Zimmerman received a fractured nose and laceration to the back of his head.

CONTINUED..

  • Trayvon shot and killed by Zimmerman
  • Zimmerman was arrested but later released
  • No evidence to refute his claim of self defense under Florida law
  • 6 weeks later the shooting amid widespread media coverage
  • Zimmerman was charged with murder

  • Zimmermans trail began on June 10,2013 in Sanford
  • July 13,2013 Zimmerman was found not guilty of second degree murderand manslaughter charges

Local:
Dismissed the case that night bc no proof that it was self defense.

State:
Six weeks after uproar on social media and media reports Zimmerman was charged with man slaughter and 2nd degree murder.

National:
The CRS is the only federal agency dedicated to assist state and local units of government.

Federalism:
Federalism helped in the Trayvon Martin case, because without the state and federal government there wouldn't have been a case because the local government released the case that night because they said they're was no evidence saying it was self defense.
