The cook coffeehouse is where Lucille and Mattie live, also where they work.

Not much was revealed about this home, but it is where the servant girl lives, who is a major character.

In Philadelphia during the late 1700's, there was havoc. People became inhumane and were thieves.

Mattie Cook
Main character in this novel, also recovers from yellow fever. Is lazy but self reliant and shows a lot of responsibility.

Mother of Mattie, is strict and owns the Cook Coffeehouse. She retracts the Yellow Fever, and is very sick.

Mattie's friend, died of what is suspected to be Yellow Fever. Worked at the coffeehouse before she died.

Mattie's friend, who she has hinted she wishes to be wed to. Son of the Blacksmith, and was adored by Polly.

First present of the United States of America, ex-general of the militia, and was the leader of Mattie's grandfathers squad.

This book shows self reliance when Mattie has to be more grown up and be independent.

Mattie has made the massive accomplishment of recovering from the Fever, although many have not.
