A Swedish study reveals that speakers and learners of multiple languages have faster learning abilities.this includes bigger brains and faster understanding of materials
The experiment

Swedish researchers took Swedish armed forces interpreters (who can learn a language in 13 months ) and did an MRI on them and a control group of medical and cognitive scientist students who study hard but not languages at UMEA University both groups were given MRI scans before and after the experiments. both were sent through 3 months of intense studying the UMEA students remained unchanged but the bilingual military gained increased brain size
Areas of brain affected during study
Hippocampus a deep lying brain structure involved in learning new material and spatial navigation (memory)
As well as three other unspecified sections of the cerebral cortex
