CHAPTERS 1-4
A is for Asleep. When Johnny and Pony ran away they went on a train. When they got in the boxcar that went to sleep. Pony had hoped that he was dreaming all of what was happening because Darry was hitting him and everything was starting to get very bad.

B is for Beating. Johnny had gotten beaten up by a Soc. But then when they were drowning Pony, he killed Bob. Also, Pony got hit by Darry across the face and no one had ever hit him. That made Pony run away with Johnny. The fact that Johnny killed someone shows that he cares for them and will stick up for them.

C is for Cherry. Cherry is a Soc. She was at the movies when Ponyboy was there and they started to talk. She already had a boyfriend but she didn't like him because they got drunk a lot and she wanted nothing to do with that. This shows that she did care and wasn't like some of the Socs.
D is for Darrel. Darrel is the brother of Pony Boy. He is very firm and doesn't grin a lot. Pony Boy doesn't really liked him. Darrel doesn't care much about anyone and is a big tough guy.
E is for Entertainment. Ponyboy and Johnny went to the drive in movie and found some girls. They met Cherry and Marica there. Cherry and Pony became pretty close but couldn't see each other anymore because one was a greaser and the other one was a Soc. This shows that Cherry liked Ponyboy but cared about he reputation and didn't want to get made fun of.

F is for Furious. When Pony came home late Darry was very mad with him. Darry was so mad that he slapped pony across the face. That made Pony run away because no one had ever hit him before. This shows that Darry couldn't control his anger and didn't think before he did.
