Main portion of the lesson.
Should be broken down, each part contributing to the next.
Leads to the objective.
Should be engaging and scaffolded appropriately.

MODELING
An example of the desired skill being used in action.
An accounting of the teacher's thought process when the skill is used.
Additional examples may be used as necessary.

CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING
Should be done frequently.
Checks should coincide with input chosen.
Input can be adjusted accordingly.

GUIDED PRACTICE
Students have the opportunity to practice the new skill.
The teacher guides practice, jumping in when necessary.
