Reform

Def: to improve (someone or something) by removing or correcting faults, problems, etc.

Sentence: I will reform the building.

Progressive

Definition: happening or developing gradually over a period of time

Sentence: We are progressing towards world peace.

Prohibition

Definition: the act of not allowing something to be used or done

Sentence: The prohibition of drugs is a good decision.

Suffrage

Definition: the right to vote in an election.

Sentence: Women got suffrage a while back.

Populism

Definition: Populism is a political doctrine in which one sides with "the people" against "the elite". Populist sentiment contributed to the American Revolutionary War, and continued to shape the young United States afterward.


Sentence: One of the most important driving forces in politics today is populism.

Suburbs

Definition: residential neighborhoods built outside a central city.

Sentence: I live in the suburb.

Definition: moving from wartime to a peacetime economy.

Sentence: We are going through a time of demobilization.

Refugees

Definition: people forced to leave their homeland because of war or persecution.

Sentence: we are refugees in Russia.
