MOLLUSKA

GASTROPOD, BIVALVE, CEPHALOPOD

Mollusks: there are around 85,000 species are recognized. They are the largest marine phylum. It includes such familiar organisms as snails, octopuses, squid, clams, scallops, oysters, and chitons and can be broken into 3+ groups. They are a soft bodied organism, which only have a head and foot region.

They are the second most diverse group of mollusks behind Gastropods. In most bivalves, the open cavity/ mouth thing contains a pair of very large gills that are used to capture food that are in water current. Bivalves are hermaphroditic or have separate sexes. The eggs are typically small, and Fertilization is usually external and the eggs and sperm are released into the water.

GASTROPODS

SNAILS AND SLUGS, LIMPETS, AND SEA HARES

Gastropods are one of the most diverse groups of animals, both in form, habit, and habitat. They are by far the largest group of molluscs. The different feeding groups include grazers, browsers, suspension feeders, scavengers, detritivores, and carnivore. MOST groups have different but there are few that are hermaphroditic, which Most forms do not normally engage in self-fertilization.

CEPHALOPOD

SQUIDS, OCTOPUSES, NAUTILUS, AND AMMONITES.

Cephalopods are the most intelligent, most mobile, and the largest of all molluscs. First, sexes are separate and mating usually includes a courtship that often involves elaborate color changes, then it's the exchange of the sperm pocket. Most males and females die shortly after spawning. They are also very cool cause they are able to change color by numerous pigment-filled bags, called chromatophores.
