WHAT IS CYSITIC FIBROSIS?

  • an inherited disease of the secretory glands.

WHAT CAUSES CYSTIC FIBROSIS?

  • A defect in the CFTR gene causes cystic fibrosis

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS?

  • your mucus becomes thick and sticky. It builds up in your lungs and blocks your airways.
  • your sweat to become very salty. Thus, when you sweat, you lose large amounts of salt.
  • Swollen stomache and extreme pain
  • Your lungs can stArt to fail

UNFORTUNATELY IT CANT BE CURED BUT IT CAN BE PREVENTED

  • Preventing and controlling lung infections
  • Loosening and removing thick, sticky mucus from the lungs
  • Preventing or treating blockages in the intestines
  • Preventing lack of nutrition
  • Preventing dehydration
