PRIMARY SOURSE OF FOOD

THE TIGER LOVES TO EAT WILD BOARD AND MANCHURIAN WAPTIS.

Niche: the Amur tigers niche is to be the top of the food web he lilits or maintains population size for carnivores and herbivores. For example, with no tigers wolf numbers would triple in size leaving elk and deer critically endangered or extinct.

Summary

  • The Siberian tiger, also commonly called the Amur tiger is the largest tiger in the world. The males usually are 300cm while the females are 90cm and they can both weigh up to 700 pounds. A hungry tiger can eat as much as 60 pounds (27 kilograms) in one night. Each cat has their own very unique stripped coat, which range from light yellow to, dark orange, to solid white. No two tigers have the same stripped pattern.

CONTINUED..

  • Siberian tigers differ from other tigers because they have fewer, paler stripes, and they also have manes. The mane, in addition to their thick fur, helps keep them warm. There are an estimated 400 to 500 Siberian tigers living in the wild. Tigers are hunted as trophies and also for body parts that are used in traditional Chinese medicine. Despite their fearsome reputation, most tigers avoid humans; however, a few do become dangerous maneaters.

Why its endangered

  • Poaching has mainly been the cause of the tigers to go into extinction. Another cause is a loss of their habitat due to deforestation. Tigers are hunted as trophies and also for body parts that are used in traditional Chinese medicine. In the 1940's the tiger was almost extinct with only 40 left in the whole world. But they were saved when Russia became the first country in the world to grant the tiger full protection. Now the population is stable at about 450 left.

What measures are being taken?

  • Two main things need to happen for the tiger to no longer be instinct. First, habitat encroachment must stop and secondly, the thousands of years old tradition of using tiger parts for medicinal purposes must also end. Many efforts have been made to curb poaching of tigers and to protect tiger habitats. Many countries, including the United States, have created laws that outlaw the importation and selling of tiger parts. There are also breeding programs to help sustain the tiger population.

How can you make a difference?

  • We can do many things to help this species. One thing is you can spread the word of the WWF's conservation acts for the animals. Speak up for the animals! You can also donate to the organization through the website https://www.worldwildlife.org/how-to-help. Another cool thing you can do it, you can "adopt the animal." You can buy a stuffed animal from that same website to raise money for the animals.
