EARLY LIFE

• Born: august 16, 1815
• Castlnuevo, italy
• Father died at age 2, which lead him to care for his family
• Learned magic tricks and tight rope walking to open carnival

The call

John had a dream of a crazy crowd of people that a lady turned into a herd of animals and told him to guide them with peace and kindness.
So John went to become a priest. At age 20 went to the seminary and met father cafasso.

MINISTRY BEGINS

• June 5,1841 was ordained preist in turin
• December 8,1841- the first sign/bartholomew garelli Came for food
• John gave and his mother gave him soup and blankets
• John told him to bring his friends for games and food

THE ORATORY

• In 1840 don bosco visited the prison
• Every sunday he brought the boys to the oratory
• 1846, don bought an empty lot and shed
