2. Origins of the Cold War: Shortly after WW2 ended, Russia quickly violated many treaties and began to try and spread communism. The United States' effort to prevent this lead to the Cold War.

3. Why is it called the Cold War? The "Cold" War was named because it was conflict in which there was no active battles, violence, or real war. However, there was always the threat of war.

4. CAPITALISM
Privately owned business
Wealth distributed unevenly
Education and health care provided by private entities
Focus is on the individual
Freedom of the Press

5. COMMUNISM
totalitarian government
state-owned property
Wealth distributed evenly
Press controlled by state
no free enterprise

6. Soviet Union Response To Containment: In response to containment, Stalin started a Blockade of Berlin in order to try and push Western Powers out of West Berlin.

7. Kitchen Debate This debate represented the growing conflict and tension between the US and Soviet Union. It showed that even at a place in which they were supposed to be friendly and diplomatic, the two nations could not get along.
