Erosion & Deposition

Waterfall
A drop off created when softer rock is eroded by a stream before the harder rock erodes. The water flows off forming a waterfall.

Alluvial Fan
Created at the end of a mountain stream. The stream comes to a stop and deposits its sediments

Cave
Created when groundwater enters cracks in solid rock and begins to dissolve it. After many years a cave is formed.

Giant Crystals
These amazing crystals are created in an underground cave by groundwater that contained calcium and sulfer. It takes thousands of years to create crystals this big.

Sea Arches
Created by waves hitting both sides of a cliff. Eventually, a hole gets eroded through the cliff.

Beach
Created when sand gets deposited on shore by waves. Sand accumulates to make a beach.

Abrasion
Happens when the wind blows rough sediments like sand over rocks and surfaces. It can cause rocks to form very cool shapes.

Sand Dunes
Created when slowing wind deposits sand forming hills of sand. They have a gentle slope on the wind side and then a drop off.
