BIOGRAPHY

  • Marie was born in Oyster Bay,NY January 12, 1956.
  • She liked to go sailing and fishing.
  • Marie colvin had a crazy plan to sail the Atlantic.
  • Marie liked to sail to get a break from the war.
  • She died February 22, 2012 when she was 56 years old.

WARS/CONFLICTS

  • She was a war correspondent for most of her professional life.
  • Marie colvin was a Middle East war correspondent.
  • She was also at Tamil-Tiger Sri Lanka when she lost her left eye.
  • Her war newspaper was the Sunday Times.

SECURITY CONCERNS/ISSUES

  • The freelancers get paid by newspapers,
  • yet they don't work for them.
  • They get to do their own thing.
  • There is not really any security.

PERSONAL COMMENTS

  • ”My god! I'm not hanging around here. I need a real war to go to."
  • “I have been a war correspondent for most of my proffessional life."
  • “It has always been a hard time, but the need for frontline objective reporting
  • has never been more compelling."

STUDENT EVALUATIONS

  • I think it was but wasn't worth the risk
  • because your putting your life on the line,
  • but Marie Colvin got famous by that and died with honor.
  • When she died she was named, “the bravest of the brave."
  • Thats why it could be worth the risk because you can be remembered.
