COLD WAR

  • Rivalry between America and the Soviet Union lasted for a lot of the second half of the 20th century.
  • We separated germany into 2 areas.
  • We tried to take West Berlin supplies but they wouldn't let us.
  • In 1990 they destroyed the Berlin Wall which put an end to the Cold War.
  • The Cold War wasn't actually a war but more of a conflict.

CUBAN MISSILE CRISIS

  • America tried to take over Cuba by overthrowing Castro but we failed.
  • The Soviet Union and Cuba both didn't like America.
  • The Soviets and Cuba teamed up against America.
  • The Soviets asked Cuba if they could put nuclear weapons in Cuba just in case a nuclear war broke out they could attack America from somewhere closer.
  • Cuba let the Soviets put their weapons in Cuba.

BAY OF PIGS

  • JFK agreed to let the C.I.A train Cuban exiles.
  • We planned to attack Cuba secretly.
  • We under estimated the Cuban military so we didn't really send enough men to complete the job.
  • We painted our planes to look like Cuban planes.
  • 114 were killed, 1,100 captured.
