EARLY LIFE

  • Jackson was born on March 15, 1767.
  • Was born in either North Carolina or South Carolina, no one really knows
  • Dad dies before he was born.
  • Parents were poor Scottish immigrants.
  • He was the first president born in a log cabin.

LATER LIFE

  • Jackson grew up to become a very successful lawyer.
  • He was a widely known lawyer because he rarely lost a case.
  • Before his years as a lawyer he was a soldier.

MILITARY LIFE

  • Jackson enlisted in the army in 1778.
  • He was 13 at the time.
  • He joined when the British invaded South Carolina.
  • He later became a general and led the battle of New Orleans.

EDUCATION

  • He attended elementary in his home time.
  • He attended college earlier than the average age.
  • He attended college at North Carolina at Chapel Hill

CARRER

  • Started labor at around 10(no one knows what job)
  • Joined the military at age 13(soldier)
  • Worked his way up to general ranking
  • Became a lawyer
  • Was a senator/legislator

MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • Famous(locally) lawyer
  • Won many awards as a soldier
  • Led the battle of New Orleans and won
  • Became a senate and legislator
  • Won the race for presidency

1ST PRESIDENTIAL RACE

  • He was 54 when he ran
  • The Tennessee legislator remembered the Battle of New Orleans
  • Lost the Race to John Quincy Adams
  • He had 99 electoral votes while Adams only had 84
  • Adams "cheated" somehow and won, Jackson was very mad.

2ND RACE

  • Jackson won the race but it came with controversy
  • This race was considered the bitterest race in history
  • It split the democratic and Republican Party permanently

Andrew Jackson is seen as one of the United State's greatest presidents. He was the first "citizen-president" representing the common man. He believed strongly in preserving the union and in keeping too much power out of the hands of the wealthy. He was also the first President to truly embrace the powers of the presidency.
