PRESENTATION OUTLINE
WHAT CAUSES iT
- EarthQuakes
- Landslides
- Pyroclastic flow from a volcanic eruption
How Is It Formed?
When water comes from to shore line out to the deep part of the ocean where it then comes up like a really big wave and crashes on land.
Where does it come from?
The ocean about where the earth quake took place.
What takes place during Tsunamis?
A really big wave comes and from the ocean and lands on houses and any thing in its way.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES?
- Local Tsunamis
- Regional Tsunamis
- Distant Tsunamis
Local Tsunamis
This is a tsunami where its destructive effects are experienced on coasts within 100 km from the source of the tsunami. In such cases, the travel time for the tsunami is generally less than one (1) hour.
Regional Tsunamis
A tsunami capable of destruction in a particular area which lies between 100 km - 1,000 km form the source of the tsunami. Regional tsunamis can take between 1-3 hours to reach the affected shoreline.
Distant Tsunamis
Also referred to as a tele-tsunami or ocean-wide tsunami, distant tsunamis originate from a far away source (more than 1000 km away) and generally take more than 3 hours to arrive at affected coasts.
WORST DURING MY LIFE
- Sumatra, Indonesia - 26 December 2004
WORST EVER
- 1958 Lituya Bay megatsunami
Tsunamis kill a lot of people, make them go missing, and destroys biuldings. The coast to repair the place would be a crazy amount.
They do bad things to the enviroment. They destroy every thing and that will kill a lot of food also so if you don't die from it, there will not be that much food.
Scientists predict tsunamis with the seismometer in both the United States and Japan. When the seismometer detects a large, shallow earthquake under the ocean they issue a warning to surrounding coastlines.
Animals may feel the ground shake a little and then they will act strange to show that some thing is about to happen.
