Birth
Jackie was born on January 31,1919 in Cairo,Georgia.

Childhood
Jackie was a humble, nice, very athletic kid who excelled at all sports. He was born into a poor family of sharecroppers and was raised by his mother who raised him and his four siblings by himself.
They were the only black family on their block and faced much discrimination.

School
Robinson attended the college UCLA in Los Angeles. Here he was the first student to letter in four sports, baseball, basketball, football, and track.

Adulthood
After college Jackie went into the army. He soon left with an honorable discharge. He then played one year of negro baseball until he was called up to play baseball by the Brooklyn Dodgers.

Adulthood continued
Jackie was the first African American since 1884 to go in the National Baseball League. There he made many achievements, by getting rookie of the year, MVP, and was inducted into the hall of fame, but the most important achievement was how he broke the color barrier and helped pave the way for African American rights.

Famous quotes by Robinson
"A life is not important, except the impact it has on other lives."
