Welcome to SUNY Potsdam!

Open with some questions:

How many of you have been on an official college tour here?
How many of you have been on our campus for other reasons?
How many of you are familiar with the SUNY system?

Potsdam is a small, liberal arts college with around 3,900 undergraduate students. We are also home to the Crane School of Music. We offer over 40 majors and minors in subjects like Archaeological Studies to Community Health or Music Business. At Potsdam, you can be undecided for your first three semesters and try a variety of courses, you do not have to come with a declared major however, if you're interested in Crane - it's best to audition and be admitted as a high school senior.

Welcome to SUNY Potsdam!

Clubs, athletics, and food!

Getting involved!
While your main focus in college is obviously your academics, there is also a lot of time to get involved with our clubs, organizations, athletics and intramural sports. We offer over 40 clubs/organizations, division three athletics, and intramural sports for those of you who still want to get involved in something athletic.

We are also number one in SUNY for our food (we offer everything from vegan to gluten free options or if you want pizza and wings, we got that, too).

At Potsdam, there are so many activities for you to get involved with, you just have to go out there and learn about all our options. For example, we have open swimming, open skate, a nice workout room, movie nights, musicians/bands, comedians, etc.

Applications

How many of you are thinking about applying?
Has anyone here started their application or submitted it?
How many of you are waiting to see if you like the campus after the tour?

Ok, great! If you're thinking about applying, we accept either the SUNY or the Common Application and we do not have a preference about which one you use. We are on a rolling admission which means that we do not have early action or early decision, we review and make decisions on applications as they come in and do not have any deadlines (only for scholarships).

We are looking for a B average and an 88 GPA was our mid-fifty percent. We are still the only test optional four year, SUNY college and for most students, we do not need you to submit your SAT/ACT scores. If you did well on the exam, you can submit them for potential scholarships. If we do require you to send in your scores, we are only do that to get a better picture of your academic journey throughout high school.

Other things we need: a letter of recommendation, a college essay, and of course, your high school transcript.
